19th anniversary Cincinnati Flower Show at historic
Coney Island!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Pre-show

  • From January to April, many tasks need to be accomplished to prepare for the Show. Creating signs and props are just a few of the jobs available.
  • Assist with multiple tasks at our office in Oakley, such as: phone calls, mailings, data entry, ticket processing, etc.
  • Please call with your availability.

    Set-up: Exhibits

    Operations

  • Multiple tasks, such as setting up wall units and platforms, carpentry, painting, and relocating exhibit materials. (April 7 - April 18)

    Grand Marquee

  • Do you have a passion for horticulture? Assist exhibitors with anything and everything such as grooming plants, potting containers, floral arranging, watering, constructing props or painting garden structures as we install over forty landscapes and single genus gardens. (April 9 - April 18)

    Professional Floristry

  • Assist in the creation of the celebration theme. (April 14 - April 17)

    Artist Studio

  • Help us create a gallery setting for Cincinnati's premier local artists to display horticulture inspired works. (April 14 - April 16)

    Dramatic Table Settings Assist staff as we prepare for the twenty other exhibitors' to arrive. Arrange flowers and props. (April 14 - April 17)

    Ambiance Around beautiful Lake Como, many large containers and floral displays are staged to add a little extra ambiance during the Show. Help plant and decorate Flower Power pots, topiary and arbors. (April 14 - April 18)

    Show Days

    Pavilion Host (April 19 - April 27)

  • Professional Floristry, Dramatic Table Settings, Grand Marquee & Splendid Spaces
  • Hosts and hostesses needed to greet Flower Show visitors with a smile during the Show.

    Opening Night Gala (April 18)

  • Assist Chairpersons and/or Staff member with multiple tasks such as set up, check-in, take down, etc.

    Lecture Series, Teas, Ask the Experts, Food Show, and DIY Weekends (April 19 - April 27)

  • Assist Chairpersons and/or Staff member with these events.

    Operations (April 19 - April 27)

  • Badge will call.
  • Gate monitor to oversee and trouble shoot all entrances to the Show.

    Marketplace (April 19 - April 27)

  • Assist with change runs and occasional breaks

    Watering and Maintenance (April 18 - April 27)

  • Everything needs to look great from beginning to end. Please help us keep plants thriving during the show.

    After Show Plant Sale (April 27, 5-9 p.m.)

  • Help sell plants from exhibits during the "wild" After Show Plant Sale. Be the first to see what's for sale, and be the first to buy great plants at cheap prices!

    After Show

    Take-Down (April 27 - May 2)

  • Help dismantle the Show site.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum of 11 Volunteer hours -- two 5.5 shifts

  • Pre-Show in the office (Now through April)
  • On site set up or take down (April 7 - April 18 and April 27 - May 2)
  • Show Days (April 19 - April 27)

    Uniform

  • Always wear your Flower Show name badge.
  • During set-up or take-down, wear comfortable "grubby" work clothes and bring work gloves.
  • The required Volunteer uniform during the Show is khaki slacks, white top and navy or black blazer and a flowered scarf or tie if you like.
  • In lieu of the blazer you may wear a Volunteer Apron.

    Orientation/Training session
    Saturday, April 5th from 9:30am - 11:30am at Coney Island. Enter Gate 3 (gate closest to River Downs), walk past Sunlight Pool to area adjacent to Volunteer Headquarters. Dress comfortably and join us for continental breakfast!! Please RSVP by putting a check mark next to the information line on your application.

  • A brief flower show overview and orientation will be given.
  • Meet with Committee Chairs and Staff for training for your particular assignments.

    Volunteers should be knowledgeable of the area and task assignment. This is a fun opportunity to acquire that knowledge from people who have the experience.
